Been using double edge razors for years. Absolutely love the vintage Gillette Slim and Fatboy adjustables, but wanted a modern version so that I didn’t risk screwing up my 50-60 year old razors. The Viking Meiji Emperor’s base plate was crooked no matter what “reset” method I used. I wanted a Razor Emporium Ambassador until I looked into the reviews and found out that it was a harsh shave, not to mention a harsh price. The Yaqi adjustable based off the old Gibbs 15 like these just looked cheap. The Merkur Futur will rip skin off at the milder settings. The Parker Variant is ok but always left me with shave bumps for some reason. So I thought I would give this a try, and after a few shaves I can easily say that I should have just started here! Yes I wish they offered a stainless steel version, but this full brass razor is just as great as my beloved Fatboy. And if I drop it I can just get a new one, which can be tricky if I have to replace the Gillette. However, it is heavy for a razor and might damage the floor if it hits it lol. Yes, the rattle is there, and if you want to know what it is, look up a Youtuber named Subie Shaves where he shows how to make it quiet. It certainly doesn’t mean that the razor has an issue. The Closeness of the Shave and Smoothness of this razor is one aspect one will understand only after using it.

So many great things about this razor. If you didn’t know it’s a clone of the rex supply adjustable razor, so it should be great. I feel it performs better than my vintage Gillettes (fatboy and slim) even when using my favorite blades. The weight makes it easy to shave without pressure. No blade feel to me at the settings I’ve tried. No chatter. It came with 50 Willy’s blades that are decent. That said the knurling is not good, I think they need to make it extra deep so it doesn’t get smoothed out by the plating. You can see they have other models with different knurling so you may want to consider one of those. The stand is functional (and included) but I find this type annoying to use and I can imagine it tipping over. The logo on the bottom is kind of cheesy looking. The blade change is more complicated than a Gillette adjustable but it’s inherent to the design.

I also don’t think If you want an ambassador that this will scratch your itch. It’s made me just want the real deal more.

I have quite a few razors collected during my wet shaving journey. Some are inexpensive, like Gillette Sterling and expensive ones like Henson AL13. Pearl Flexi is my first adjustable razor and was not sure what to expect from this.

Based on many reviews online, I knew it is a high-quality razor but didn’t expect it this well built. The razor has very good ergonomics and weight. Compared to my AL13, this is heavy razor which needs no pressure to apply.

Feels very smooth and the adjustability makes it a perfect tool. Earlier I had different categories of razor, mild and medium aggressive. Based on different aggressiveness, I used to decide which blade will work better. This razor just makes you forget all those rules. 🙂

Really versatile razor with excellent heft, build quality and bite. I enjoy the other adjustable razors as well, and I rate the variant equally high in terms of shave quality. The flexi hands down has a better build and the smaller footprint inspired from Rex Ambassador has its own charm. The higher settings were just as capable of shaving off a 2 week beard growth as my shavette. I think it’ll be my travel companion owing to its size. Absolutely loved it
