Omron HEM 7142T1 Digital Bluetooth Blood Pressure Monitor with Cuff Wrapping Guide & Intellisense Technology For Most Accurate Measurement

The cuff size was way too small (24 cm only) did not fit my arm and hence could not use at all. The length of the tube is also short. Should give the option to choose cuff size while ordering. Now I have to either return or buy larger cuff separately

I had an existing blood pressure monitor from Panasonic (which my sister got me from US). It was a wrist-fitting device & served well for several years, before the LCD screen gave up on me. So, I wanted a different one – with following criteria in mind:

– Should be easy to use (& upper-arm style – for better accuracy within Oscilloscope methods)
– Results should be as accurate as possible
– Shouldn’t be too expensive (i.e. budget <2.5K)

I started searching Amazon & I short listed a few. Apart from online searches, I also checked within my friend circle – as nowadays almost every household carries a BP monitor for family use. Based on all collected feedback I zero-ed in on the brand Omron & eventually decided for HEM-7130.

Why HEM-7130?
✔ Matched all my required criteria (as mentioned above)
✔ Simple user interface (comes with digital as well as bar reading)
✔ Comes with feature to detect irregular heartbeat patterns
✔ Cuff wrapping guide lamp to warn in case of incorrect placement
✔ Also features a movement error symbol

Other Facts:
✘ Doesn’t come with the AC adapter
✘ May be bit clumsy to handle (as there are 3 basic parts – the reading device, connecting air pipe and the arm cuff)
✘ Price is on the higher side
✘ Doesn’t come with any app integration

Conclusion:
If you are looking for a decent blood pressure monitor for home usage, this appears to be a good product to serve the need. ✌

The Omron HEM-7130 BP monitor is perfect for periodic BP monitoring at home, especially for elders and pregnant women.
The need for such convenient devices increases at these times of pandemic and lockdown when people prone to blood pressure deviations are more susceptible to the COVID19.
I am myself a doctor and can only vouch for the accuracy. No device, not even mercury sphygmomanometer can give 100% accurate reading each and every time. There are minor deviations due to body posture, cuff wrapping tightness and position etc. And this device is decent enough to keep a reasonable monitoring.

To the people complaining about the accuracy, reading all your negative reviews even I was afraid of the accuracy. Just a word of advice, use the device exactly as advised in the manual.
1) Cuff placement: 1-2 cm above elbow joint
2) Cuff tightness: Should allow just 1 finger to insert but not the second.
3) Place cuff at the level of heart.
4) No bathing, physically strenuous activity, alcohol, smoking etc 30 miNites before taking reading.
5) Always take reading on the same arm.

If you are comparing it with the reading your doctor told you, you are not taking into account the white coat syndrome. Please take both readings side by side, on the same arm, with an interval of 5 minutes in between, without leaving the seat.

There is a slight deviation of 3-4 mm but it’s ok for personal non professional use.

If still you see more anomalies, get your device replaced within the replacement window. It’s just that you received a defective piece.
