Alkanet Root is supposed to produce a ruby red hue. This product does not produce any semblance of a red hue at all. Color comes out dingy brown to possibly purple. I wonder if this product is actually Alkanet Root.

I normally get a purple-ish color when I use alkanet root powder in my handmade soap. This was a brown color. Also the seal on the package would not seal. The powder made a big mess. I don’t recommend to use in cosmetics

I bought this for a red coloring for a lip gloss recipe. Don’t bother if that’s your goal too. It’s color is dark brown and not red at all.
