This Zoff Kashmiri chili powder has a nice heat level I would say is higher than most making for some spicy dishes. The powder is a bright red color and is very finely ground. I tried it making homemade tortilla chips and in some tacos and both turned out well and the powder added nice flavor. The ziplock bag could use improvement, I just put the bag in another ziplock. Big enough bag of chili powder it should last for a while. And it is so finely ground it doesn’t take much.

Just the right amount of heat, with a richness of flavor and beautiful color. What more could you want? Great for curry but also for lending better balance to chili than any of the commercial “chili powder” blends that can be too cumin-heavy.

Kashmiri chili powder is supposed to be relatively mild – and it is, but it can also sneak up on you. so I’m still learning how to use it. I’ve been starting with pinches and carefully increasing the amounts. So far I’ve had the best luck with chickpea flour pancakes and honey because I can carefully increase the amount in those. Compared to the chili powder in an old bottle I got from my local grocery store, the Kashmiri powder was finer and a little smokier, so it seemed to be adding more depth, not just heat, to my pancakes and honey. I don’t do a lot of cooking requiring chili powder, cayenne pepper or paprika, so 200 gm is way too much for me, but I’m looking forward to more experiments.
