Needs a long time to get cooked. This rice needs to be soaked in water for 2 hours for easy cooking.even after soaking 2 hours in water i still needed 40 minutes to cook on a vidiem gas stove, with above medium flame. More updates will be given after experimentation. One plus point of this rice is that it expands nicely on cooking ,so that 1 glassful (nearing 100ml ) can serve 3 plates

Finally found a way to cook this rice

Step 1:- soak it in water for 4 hours

Step:- cook it in a pressure cooker until you hear 6 whistles

    Update:-

    Found a faster way

    1) Soak the rice in water for half an hour

    2) now cook the rice in medium flame using gas stove and Manipur black pottery / Longpi pottery vessel for 20 minutes , with lid closed

    3) switch of the gas and wait for 10 minutes with lid closed

    4) Rice is now ready to use

Manipur black pottery available on amazon

This type is higher in protein and fiber than white rice varieties, but where it really shines is in its antioxidant content.
Like black rice, it’s packed with flavonoid antioxidants, including the anthocyanins apigenin, myricetin, and quercetin.
In fact, research shows that red rice has significantly more potential to fight free radicals and contains higher concentrations of flavonoid antioxidants than brown rice. Therefore, choosing whole-grain brown, red, black, or wild rice is an excellent choice for health. Studies demonstrate that people who consume more dietary antioxidants — such as those in brown, red, black, or wild rice — have lower risks of conditions like metabolic syndrome, depression, certain cancers, and heart disease.

Plus you can use this specific rice to make a risotto and it comes out brilliantly plus the taste completely soaks into the rice and the longer you keep it the better it tastes!
I definitely recommend this rice even in comparision to black rice.

Good quality rice. Soaked a few grains to check the quality of rice. To my surprise almost all of them sprouted after 3 days. Made dosas n they are tasty n crispy. I’m very happy with the purchase.
