HA is the new hype amongst beauty bloggers, and for a good reason too, HA is well suited irrespective of your skin type, varying from very dry to very oily. And all-encompassing moisture ingredient that retains the water level in the upper epidermis layer of your skin, giving it a plump and healthy appearance.
I did a good amount of research, like a skeptical person I am, whether an expensive version/variant of HA is better than something which is available at almost 1/5th of the rate, and whether a serum version of HA is more potent than a gel creme.
To start with, dermatologists suggests that both gel creme and serums contain around 0.5% – 2.0% of HA which is enough for daily use, and it doesn’t make any difference in which form you are using, or of which brand you are using, it depends on your personal preference. Also, spending a bomb on HA based products is not usually a good idea since HA just does the job of retaining and balancing moisture level, that too on your upper layer of skin since the molecule of HA is not small enough to penetrate into lower layers of skin. So basically, a high-end and a low-end product is doing the same function. However HA acts as an excellent carrier agent for AHA/BHA/Vitamin C/Vitamin E to reach lower skin layers where these can make an actual difference.
Coming to my 4 weeks of usage of Ponds Super Light HA gel creme, I am summarising my experience:
* Quantity at this rate is simply a delight, I don’t mind much about the packaging since I always go for the efficacy of product, I ordered the big tub, but for on the go, smaller pack would be super convenient. It is a tub like packaging and the product is sealed with an aluminium foil so that the product remains inside the tub during transit.
* Texture and smell : watery/wiggly gel with faint blue color, highly suitable for those who have sensitive nose since this has a faint smell.
*I would like to compare the absorption of this product as compared to Dot & Key HA serum, since Ponds gel has Vitamin E, it does not completely soaked into skin as compared to DK serum which seeps into skin in like 5 seconds, the gel creme takes around 2-3 minutes to become completely matte, and before that you would notice a slight dewy finish.
* Main composition: Thank god this product does not have Vitamin C pre-loaded with it like DK HA serum, you can use this gel creme to pair up with your choice of serum without worrying if it would react. DK HA serum already has Vitamin C in it, though It is not mentioned what % of Vitamin C is used, you cannot pair it up with serum of your choice.
*Cost-efficiency: Definitely Ponds gel creme is a win-win since you require a little of it and spreads easily across your face including neck (Don’t you forget this area!). As with the DK HA serum, I ended up exhausting the bottle of 30 ml under 3 weeks. Priced around 900 rupees, it is definitely expensive. I just can’t spend 900 on a product called moisturiser which does not even lasts a month!
The immediate results of both serum and gel creme were same, plump and soothed skin, minimised pores with absolutely no dry patches. Both can be used as an excellent make up base to start with.
This product would be in my cart as and when I will end up using it, its cheap, no fancy frills but it does what it is supposed to do. You would obviously need to re-apply once you wash your face. This product gets a full 5 star from an oily-sensitive-dry-acne prone skinned person!

I have been using Pond’s Superlight Gel since February 2022 and this is my 2nd tub. A tub of 147g will last you for a year and this time I bought the 196g pack. The MRP is 440/- and I got it from Amazon for 290/- . I am satisfied with the purchase.
