Okay – first things first – you need to mix the chilli crisp within the oil. Thanks to another review that pointed this out, I was saved from being disappointed. And once you mix whatever comes in the jar, you can use it just about anywhere! It is not spicy (this is coming from a person who cannot handle anything above medium spicy) and it is so flavourful. Eat it with Chinese food or momos, or with eggs or with anything you fancy! It is pretty salty, so maybe do budget that in before you eat it with something savoury. Will buy this again once my current jar finishes.

Smokey flavour. Liked it.

I`m a big fan of this sauce , if I may call it like this, basically it`s a mix of crispy chilies, roasted soybeans, and oil. It has a well balanced spicy flavor, and usually, I use it as a dip with almost any dish and even I mix it with mayo for a less spicy dip sauce.
I was quite happy to find it on Amazon, although it`s a little more expensive than I buy it normally from an Asian specific shop and it was delivered in good conditions.
After trying it, though, I could taste a slight mold taste which put me off a bit.
As the sauce naturally separates from oil, I was able to drain it in a glass and I had to bin like half of the jar quantity until I could not taste the mold so present, but it ended up in the bin as I was worried.
I really cannot find an explanation but maybe a better quality control of the ingredients should take place.
Making abstraction of this incident, the souce is delicious when it has the right taste!

My daughter had brought a 1 kg pack from USA a year back. The liking was instantaneous. It’s so good. It spices up everything bland. Use it like an achaar or a dip while having an omlette or even with saag or paratha.
Thankfully the product is available in India. It’s versatility will never cease to amaze you.

Lao gan ma is supposed to be fried garlic, onions and some chilli in chilli oil. You can have this with rice, in a lettuce wrap or with eggs.. the possibilities are endless.. the one thing they aren’t is too spicy.. so if you go in expecting fire.. you will be disappointed.. if on the other hand you want a mellow lightly spiced condiment.. this is just for you!

Remember to mix it well before you use it. The first time I tried it after reading about it online, I didn’t mix it, and it tasted bland. Thought I might have to throw it away. Then I mixed it with the oil and then the flavour kicked in. Yummy. A bit expensive in India and I initially had to pay shipping charges too. But definitely worth a try

If you love chilli oil, close your eyes and buy this. You wouldn’t regret it.

This stuff is addictive. More umami than spicy. Utterly delicious but if you have a Chinese shop local to you it will be much cheaper. It’s £1.60 in my local one

The packaging was good but a segment of the label has been cut out (see image). Not sure why?
The jar is sealed.
Yet to try. Will update on taste later.
